Robert Lazaro, Mayor of the Town of Purcellville, is holding the plaque designating the town as the 2009 Friend of the Mountains. The town won the award for having placed a conservation easement on 1271 acres of mountain property surrounding their water reservoir. The Friends of the Blue Ridge Mountains gives the award annually to that individual or organization which contributes significantly to the preservation of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
Robert W. Brenneman is shown receiving the award for the favorite photograph at the 2nd Annual Celebration hosted by the Friends of the Blue Ridge Mountains. His photo was selected as the best by the votes of over 80 persons who attended the event. There were 33 pictures entered in the exhibit.
